The award was given during Life Care’s annual Directors of Nursing Meeting held at the company’s headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee. It is given to the director of nursing in each of Life Care’s divisions who best demonstrates outstanding qualities in several areas, including customer service ratings, staff development and successful state surveys.
Walden had been the DON at Life Care Center of Port Orchard when she took a few years to explore other roles and have a child. She returned to the facility as DON in December 2016. During the meeting, she was praised for her role in reinstating positive state survey outcomes, increasing the quality of resident care and creating stability among the staff. She builds personal relationships with community medical professionals and assists with hands-on care to support her staff.
“Sara is a living example of what the honorable nursing profession is all about,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “She administers her God-given talents in a spirit of love and compassion to help make the lives of others better. We’re proud of her and all of our nursing award winners.”
Walden was selected from all the directors of nursing in Life Care’s Northwest Division, which encompasses 28 facilities in Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Utah.
Life Care honored seven other division winners and a Company-wide Director of Nursing of the Year, as well as a customer service winner.
